MCVL, U.S.A. — Bawibawi Thang and Nick Bultje have been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League's (MCVL) weekly award winners for Week Six, following the second weekend of league play.
Thang was named the MCVL's Offensive Player of the Week while Bultje earned Defensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week.
Thang anchored the Little Giants offense with 47 kills in three matches this past week, averaging 3.92 kills per set. Wabash notched two big victories over Olivet and Adrian to start its conference slate with a 2-0 record. Thang posted a season-best 22 kills and hit .333 in the win over Adrian. In Wabash's sweep at Olivet, Thang hit .375 and had nine kills.
Bultje continues to be a force at the net for Calvin, as the Knights are off to an impressive 4-0 start in MCVL play. Calvin won both of its games this past week, sweeping Mount St. Joseph and securing a four-set win over Wittenberg. Bultje had nine total blocks in Calvin's win over Wittenberg after collecting five against MSJ.
For Thang, this is his first Offensive Player of the Week award and the third of his career, winning twice last season. Bultje's Defensive Player of the Week is his second consecutive and the second overall of his career.
