MCVL Tabs Mount Union’s Pemberton, Baldwin Wallace’s Gundrum with Week Four Honors

MCVL, U.S.A. — The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) announced its Players of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, recognizing Mount Union's Luke Pemberton and Baldwin Wallace's Ethan Gundrum.

Pemberton, a freshman outside hitter, earned Offensive Player of the Week for the Purple Raiders while Gundrum, a freshman setter for the Yellow Jackets, was named Defensive Player of the Week. 

Pemberton racked up 67 kills, averaging 4.47 kills per set, in Mount Union's five matches this weekend. The Massillon, Ohio native hit .301 on 143 attempts, scoring 70.0 total points for the Purple Raiders. In UMU's sweep of North Park, Pemberton had a match-high 18 kills, hitting .333. 

Gundrum, who was named the AVCA DIII Player of the Week last week, helped to lead BW to a 2-1 week, sweeping both Misericordia and Chatham. The Cincinnati, Ohio-native racked up 12 blocks, averaging 1.09 blocks per set, including a career-high seven in a five-set defeat to No. 4 Juniata. 

The awards for Pemberton and Gundrum are both their firsts of the season and career.
